Timeline

  • 1936 - Thomas Bowman Mimms resigns as Director of The Georgia Public Welfare Department to start building custom houses and purchasing real estate.
  • 1948 - Thomas Mimms purchases land at Peachtree Street and Bennett Street and began developing industrial buildings. Currently, the area is known as the Bennett Street Arts District.
  • 1955 - After serving his country as an officer in the United States Air Force, Malon Mimms joins his father Thomas, taking Mimms Enterprises to new heights.
  • 1968 - Under the direction of Malon Mimms, Mimms Enterprises purchases North Decatur Plaza, its first retail property.
  • 1973 - Mimms Enterprises purchases its largest property to date, the North DeKalb Mall.
  • 1979 - David Mimms joins the company to oversee leasing and construction.
  • 1984 - Malon (Lonnie) Mimms Jr. joins Mimms Enterprises to handle accounting, programming and leasing responsibilities.
  • 1989 - Robert Mimms came on board to manage the leasing and marketing departments.
  • 1996 - Mimms Enterprises moves its office to the historic Roswell Mill and continues to grow after six decades in real estate.
  • 2006 - Mimms Enterprises relocates to 780 Old Roswell Place and continues to grow after six decades in real estate.
