Mimms Purchases High-Traffic Publix Shopping Center in Cumming, Ga.

Thursday, September 02, 2010 - ATLANTA—(Aug. 7, 2008)— Mimms Enterprises has purchased Lanier Commons Shopping Center, a 74,471-square-foot neighborhood shopping center in Cumming, Ga.

With tenants that include Publix Supermarket, Hollywood Video and Rice Restaurant and Sushi Bar, Lanier Commons is 95 percent leased.

“Lanier Commons gives us the opportunity to diversify our retail portfolio with a well stabilized asset,” said Brad Shoemaker, Director of Marketing, Mimms Enterprises. “Cumming and Forsyth County have seen significant growth over the past decade, and we are confident that the immediate retail area will continue to develop and foster greater growth.”

The immediate population around Lanier Commons has swelled nearly 60 percent from 2000 to 2008, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Its surrounding cities include a population of more than 98,000. Mimms Enterprises plans on holding the asset long-term.

Mimms Enterprises purchased Lanier Commons from BCI-Lanier Commons LLC on Aug. 6. Jim Hamilton and C. Whitney Knoll of Holliday Fenoglio Fowler L.P. represented BCI-Lanier; Mimms represented itself.

Built in 2004, Lanier Commons is a major shopping area for residents and people traveling to Lake Lanier. Mimms will handle the leasing and management of the property, which fronts both Browns Bridge and Keith Bridge roads.
